About
Reliable data is critical to retailers as more customers forgo physical stores in favor of digital shopping, yet point-of-sale (POS) tools are vastly unprepared to keep pace with evolving technology. That's where Jumpmind excels: their mission is to create POS and data transmission software tailored to fit highly specific and complex use cases.
Jumpmind's powerful custom data replication platform, SymmetricDS, had a usability problem. It was cluttered and complex, contributing to an overwhelming amount of support tickets that distracted Jumpmind's engineering teams.
Role
My team was entrusted to completely redesign the customer-facing experience focusing on a holistic dashboard redesign and new database configuration workflow. I specifically led the design and testing of an integrated AI assistant concept capable of identifying and troubleshooting database errors to relieve customer support. This project was one in a long partnership between myself and Jumpmind, building on other improvements and initiatives to modernize SymmetricDS.
Outcomes
The redesign of SymmetricDS helped streamline the dashboard with intuitive navigation and robust filtering and customization. The concepts I designed for an AI-driven database assistant have guided Jumpmind in their goals to leverage cutting-edge technology to lead the market, with repeatable UX patterns enshrined in a design system for faster experimentation.
